A Thousand Conversations lyrics

From Album: Don't Stop Believin'

A thousand conversations on a never ending theme
Seem to linger in my mind like the fragments of a dream
That was once a part of you and remains a part of me
It's the unreal world we lived in that was born of fantasy

You whiled away the hours, making promises that might
Have just changed the world we knew, if they'd only turned out right
But now I'm a little wise
I can even raise a laugh
At the funny face you pulled on a faded photograph

New days replace yesterdays in time
It's well to bear in mind
That new ways erase
Nothing stays the same
And now you've even changed your name

Forever I'll remember as I pass by on the train
Streets of paradise we loved
Now so few of them remain

Guess it's finally goodbye
Seems we came so suddenly
To the end of childhood dreams
And the way things used to be

La la la la, la la la la, la la la la, la la

What do you think of "A Thousand Conversations"?

Latest Comments:

I first hear this song back around 1979, and have loved it ever since. I never hear it on the radio, and can't find it electronicaly on the internet. I have it on my LP Album. Its songs like this by Olivia, that I wonder why never made it to the radio. Just like my all time favorite song "Coolin' Down". Its like a well kept secret for Olivia's true fans, since you won't hear it unless you bought the album. I used to think I would never get the chance to meet Olivia, but I did! I've met Olivia at 2 concerts. My first was in Indiana, where I actually walked back-stage. No one stopped me, and I was able to walk in. I think I saw her dressing room door. I should have stayed back-stage for the whole concert. The 2nd was in Milwaukee, after the concert in the "green room" I think they called it. Olivia has such a beautiful voice! I like that she sings a lot of the sad songs. It's the words, that make the song, like the words in Thousand Conversations.
